Join us at the beautiful Kitsilano Beach all day on August 13 for two exciting blitz tournaments! Play in one, or both.

Dates: August 13, 2023 starting at 10:00 a.m. and 02:00 p.m. PDT
Venue: Kitsilano Beach
All-day paid parking available onsite.
There will be noise in the surrounding area. This tournament is part of KitsFest, an outdoor festival with many other sporting events
Rounds: 8 rounds Swiss format in the morning
- Round 1 at 10:00 a.m.
- Round 2 at 10:20 a.m.
- Round 3 at 10:40 a.m.
- Round 4 at 11:00 a.m.
- Round 5 at 11:20 a.m.
- Round 6 at 11:40 a.m.
- Round 7 at 12 noon
- Round 8 at 12:20 p.m.

- Round 2 at 02:20 p.m.

Policies
Byes
- You may request a maximum of two ½ point byes for any tournament
- No byes on the last round of a tournament (requests for a bye on the last round will be ignored, or you will receive a 0 point bye)
Playing Area
- No food in the playing area
- All electronics capable of making noise, communicating, or playing chess must be powered fully off while playing
Photo & Video
- Vancity Chess may film certain games throughout the event. We always ask players involved for their permission.
- Photos by spectators are allowed for the first 5 minutes of each round, but please be discrete and respectful to not disturb players
Tiebreaks
- Prize money split evenly among everyone tied
- Tiebreak for non-cash prizes decided by:
- Head-to-head score of tied players
- Cumulative score of opponents (opens new window)
- Armageddon Blitz (opens new window) 5|4
