Join us at the beautiful Kitsilano Beach all day on August 12 for our first outdoor rapid tournament!

Check out our other events we'll be holding this year at KitsFest from August 12 - 13. Points earned in this tournament are automatically allocated to the summer season of our rapid chess league. See our league overview for more information on our 2023 rapid league.

80 player limit. Registration closes August 10 at 5pm PST or if player limit is reached.

All-day paid parking available onsite.


Rounds: 6 rounds Swiss format

  • Round 1 at 10:00 a.m.
  • Round 2 at 11:00 a.m.
  • Round 3 at 12:00 p.m.
  • Lunch break
  • Round 4 at 02:00 p.m.
  • Round 5 at 03:00 p.m.
  • Round 6 at 04:00 p.m.

Time format: 15 min + 10 sec/move increment

Refunds

  • You may request a full refund before registration closes

Byes

  • You may request a maximum of two ½ point byes for any tournament
  • No byes on the last round of a tournament (requests for a bye on the last round will be ignored, or you will receive a 0 point bye)

Playing Area

  • No food in the playing area
  • All electronics capable of making noise, communicating, or playing chess must be powered fully off while playing

Photo & Video

  • Vancity Chess may film certain games throughout the event. We always ask players involved for their permission.
  • Photos by spectators are allowed for the first 5 minutes of each round, but please be discrete and respectful to not disturb players
