KitsFest Rapid Championship 2024

Join us at the beautiful Kitsilano Beach all day on August 10 for our second outdoor rapid championship! The top 3 players in the open section will be invited to our Vancity Rapid Championship in December.

Check out our other events we'll be holding this year at KitsFest from August 10 - 11.

80 player limit. Registration closes August 9 at 5pm PST or if player limit is reached.

All-day paid parking available onsite.


Rounds: 6 rounds Swiss format

  • Round 1 at 10:00 a.m.
  • Round 2 at 11:00 a.m.
  • Round 3 at 12:00 p.m.
  • Lunch break
  • Round 4 at 02:00 p.m.
  • Round 5 at 03:00 p.m.
  • Round 6 at 04:00 p.m.

Time format: 15 min + 10 sec/move increment

Refunds

  • You may request a full refund before registration closes

Byes

  • You may request a maximum of two ½ point byes for any tournament
  • No byes on the last round of a tournament (requests for a bye on the last round will be ignored, or you will receive a 0 point bye)

Playing Area

  • No food in the playing area
  • All electronics capable of making noise, communicating, or playing chess must be powered fully off while playing

Photo & Video

  • Vancity Chess may film certain games throughout the event. We always ask players involved for their permission.
  • Photos by spectators are allowed for the first 5 minutes of each round, but please be discrete and respectful to not disturb players
